The Last Romance

by Joe DiPietro

12-29 February 2020

Director: Keith Hutton

Production Coordinator: Brian Christopher

This delightful, yet bittersweet, romantic comedy about love among the over-65s centres on 80-year old widower Ralph who once harboured ambitions to be an opera singer but got married instead. He lives with his slightly younger, sister Rose, a possessive, relentless manipulator who’s determined not to let him out of her sight.

Meanwhile Ralph is developing a friendship with Carol at the local park where she walks her dog daily. Joe DiPietro’s play is affectionately written and deftly sketches the growing attraction between Ralph and Carol. This sets Ralph and Rose on a collision course.
