Inspired by a much-loved piece of Hollywood folklore, Matthew Lombardo’s hilarious play recounts a single tumultuous day in 1965 when legendary film star Tallulah Bankhead clashes with hapless film editor Danny Miller inside a sound studio. Tasked with re-recording (“looping”) just one single line of dialogue for her final film, Die! Die! My Darling!, it took an exhausting eight hours!

 

The play cleverly explores the tension between Tallulah’s larger-than-life personality and Danny’s persistence, uncovering moments of vulnerability and the shared humanity that emerge beneath their struggle.
